Helping Flood Victims in the Pittsburgh Area

Opportunities for Pittsburgh Latinos to Help Their Neighbors

This message was sent to Carnegie Mellon University students
and staff, however, anyone from the community can volunteer to help.

In the wake of last weekend's extensive flooding, many students, faculty and staff have
asked about ways in which they can assist the many Pittsburghers affected by this disaster.

Carnegie Mellon is accepting donations of food & household items
that are desperately needed by flood victims. Drop off bins are on campus.

Carnegie Mellon Food & Supply Drive

(In conjunction with the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank and American Red Cross) Beginning September 27, collection bins & boxes will be posted at various locations around campus (residence houses, University Center & academic buildings). We will be collecting non-perishable food items and supplies to be donated to the Food Bank and distributed by the Red Cross.

Items that are desperately needed include the following (please, no glass items):

* Personal Hygiene & Household Products (Cleaning Supplies, Dish Detergent, Toothpaste, Toilet Paper, Diapers, Soap, Shampoo, Feminine Hygiene Items) * Water (individual bottles) * Food Items (Peanut Butter, Canned Tuna/Ham, Canned Milk, Fruit, Veggies, Soup, Chili, Pasta/Rice, Cereal & Juice) * Ready to Eat Meals & Snacks:(i.e. Energy Bars, Individual Bags of Chips, Candy, etc.) Please note that cash donations to the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank or the American Red Cross are welcome and they can be dropped off to the Student Development Office, Morewood Gardens, A-Tower.
